George Evans Jeffries

Second Generation | 1883-1951

*Born in Hale County, Alabama in 1883. George Evans was the ninth child, fourth son born to Tom and Fannie.

*George married Catherine Elodie Pegues (1885-1937) in 1909.  Prior to his marriage he fathered a son, Edward Jeffries (1907-1997), with Sarah Carter (1884-1938).

*George and Elodie had six children:

 John Ellerbe  1910-1994

 George E. Jr.  1912-2007

 Christopher Pegues 1914-

 Fannie Lois  1915-2008

 Thomas Theodore 1916-2005

 Mary   1919-1919

*George Evans and Elodie made their home in Selma, Dallas County, Alabama.  His older sister Susie Martin also lived in Selma.
